BuildCompare is designed to help UK trade and DIY users compare supplier prices, stock availability and merchant options more quickly.
How BuildCompare makes money
BuildCompare is currently free to use during our pre-launch beta.
In future, BuildCompare may earn money in two ways:
- 1Affiliate commissions. Some merchant links on BuildCompare may be affiliate links. If you click one of these links and then make a purchase, the merchant or affiliate network may pay BuildCompare a commission. This commission is paid by the merchant or affiliate network. It does not increase the price you pay.
- 2Optional paid features. We may later offer an optional paid Pro tier for users who want additional features, such as saved baskets, automated comparison re-runs, branch-level stock alerts, trade-tier pricing controls or advanced workflow tools. The core search and compare experience will remain free unless clearly stated otherwise.
How affiliate links are shown
Where a merchant link is an affiliate link, we aim to make that clear before you click.
Affiliate relationships may be shown using labels such as “Affiliate partner”, “Affiliate link” or similar wording on relevant merchant results, buttons or pages.
Ranking and comparison integrity
BuildCompare does not rank merchants based on commission rates.
Our default ranking is based on the comparison logic shown in the app, such as price, availability, distance or combined price-and-distance sorting.
The BEST PRICE result is based on the cheapest available result we can identify from the data available to BuildCompare, regardless of whether that merchant has an affiliate relationship with us.
Affiliate relationships do not allow merchants to buy a better ranking in standard comparison results.
Current affiliate status
BuildCompare is working towards approved publisher status with UK affiliate networks and direct merchant affiliate programmes.
Where we have an approved affiliate relationship with a specific merchant or network, we will disclose that relationship clearly.
Until affiliate links are active, BuildCompare does not earn commission from your merchant clicks.
Changes to this disclosure
We may update this disclosure as BuildCompare develops, including when new affiliate relationships, merchant partnerships or paid features are introduced.
Where changes materially affect how BuildCompare makes money or how comparison results are presented, we will update this page clearly.
For material changes — such as introducing paid features, changing the free-tier feature set, or activating affiliate commissions — we will give at least 30 days’ notice before the change takes effect.
